Pax et Bonum!
We would like to inform everyone that we have received last month a total of five (5) "balikbayan" boxes from mainland USA as donation supposedly for our Christmas gift-giving. It did not push through due to our hectic schedule. Besides, most centers prefer food or cash donations during the Christmas season as a lot of people are giving-away old toys or clothes.
Above are pictures taken last December 26 during the inventory listing and below is the complete list of the donations. Please take note that the boxes were all coursed through FOREX CARGO courtesy of Noel Carino. Box 1 is also the donation of Noel Carino while the rest came from the Parishioners of St. Columbkill of Boyertown, Pennsylvania under the auspices of Fr. Robert Quinn and Sr. Nancy Kramer and relayed to the sister-in-law of Toti Esguerra, Ms. Mimay Barnes.
As a backgrounder, this project started as a gift-giving activity but we are now bringing it to a higher level. Instead of giving the toys/books directly to the kids, we are now looking for DSWD-accredited centers or depressed barangay areas wherein we can convert a small corner of their room into a playschool or playroom or even a mini-library so that many kids would benefit from it. We are targetting pre-school kids from 3-7 years old.
The next step is to sort out the books and the toys according to the recipients. We will update you since we will be needing volunteers from the stamping, packing, labelling and actual donation of the items. There will also be a site inspection and everyone is encouraged to join.

PS I am suggesting "Munting Sulok (Small Corner)," or "Unang Hakbang (First Step)" as project name or you can suggest other names which should be reflective of the nature of our project. The name must be in Pilipino.
