Fellow Lourdesians,
The April 12 reunion at Las Vegas was a success!
As host in his new home, Noel Carino called the meeting to order.
Ed San Luis '65 led the opening prayer. Ed shared that he was being recruited by the Franciscans to become a priest- but he is now a doctor!
George Escarraga proceeded with the President's Report on the LSQC Batch '82 Foundation- how it has now grown to include almost half of the 275 graduates of Batch 1982 and now with enough funds to be able to initialize and to be able to generate the scholarship program to be launched in 2007-our 25th anniversary of graduation!
George-further expounded on the activities and committees as well as the latest happenings and gimmicks of our batchmates in the Philippines. Kudos to George for all his efforts to lead our Foundation to success and fruition!!! All USA-based batchmates present pledged their support and aid to the cause of our Foundation!
Next on the agenda was the report of Ed San Luis' 65- President of the LSQC USA Alumni Associtation, INC. Ed announced how Fr. Troy had called on Ed Aniceto '65 (now Vice President of the LSQC USA AA, Inc.) - two years ago for help in organizing all LSQC graduates based in the USA. As a result, a meeting was held last August 2002 at the Getty Center in Los Angeles where several batches were represented and initial plans were drawn for the incorporation of the association.
Mikko Mangalindal '92 and Irwin Alumno '92 also were present and reported that the incorporation of the Association would be completed in a week or so!
Mikhail Carino'76 was also present and reported how he has registered the domain name of www.lsqcusa.org - thanks to his efforts- we now have an official website- the development of the contents of which is now being undertaken!
Ferdie Santos arrived from Carson, Eric De Mesa came from Los Angeles, Manny Salonga drove from Los Angeles- the pictures i sent will tell the whole story of how we were overjoyed to see each other again- after our graduation in 1982.
Words fail me as the pictures of how we were laughing at the stories and the yearbook pictures i brought from our prep pictures of our 1972 yearbook to our elementary graduation in our 1978 yearbook and to our 1982 pictures in our yearbook!
Eric de Mesa had us in stitches at how Mr. Paltao caught him with our favorite reading materials and called his mom over!
Manny Salonga and Ferdie Santos regaled us with their own memories and favorite games- tansan, food- cornik with hot oil, tex, sigay, buying outside- favorite teachers and batchmates!
We all had a good time and the fellowship continued even after the meeting was over!
Thank you to all attendees- most especially to our host- Noel Carino- who fed us and showed us a great time in Las Vegas! Same time next year Noel???
The next meeting for all USA-based Lourdesians will be on May 29, 2003 at downtown LA in a coffeshop at Chinatown- called by Ed San Luis'65. This will also be the first general meeting of the LSQC USA Alumni Association, INC.
Then the second annual Getty Reunion at LA will be held on August 9, 2003!
