Batchmates,

I just concluded a 10-day US West Coast visit and I was able to meet and talk with some of our US-based batchmates.

Topping the list is Aids Lecaros who became my sparring partner par excellence!!! Pare, you have perfected your craft since you arrived in February - an efficient houseband. Good luck on your review and hope you pass the US Bar at ika'y maging isang ganap na abugado riyan.

I had brunch with Danny Morallo together with his wife Nancy. What a small world indeed at kapitbahay ko lang pala siya kung saan ako tumutuloy sa US!!! Danny works for a mortgage company and currently pursuing his master's degree. Next time ulit.

I had dinner with Ferdie Santos and family. Ferdie is an operations manager of a UV-manufacturing company. Tama ba, Ferdie??? Thanks also for visiting me sa house and spending some beer time with me and the rest of the group. Well, kasama si Aids dito at gabi na eh...day-off na niya!!!

Manny Salonga (GS '78) who went to see me Saturday night on a very short notice.

To the other guys who I just talked to over the phone: the original Calihorny kid, Eric de Mesa. Next time, I would really go to Northern California and catch up with the rest of the guys there. Salamat Jojo Caimol, a doctor based in Jackpot, Nevada for returning my call. Sigurado akong makakadaan sa iyo pag nasa Northern part ako next time.

Well, thanks to Aids again and we were able to trace Noel Carino (Noel, pasensiya na at walang enye itong edsamail eh). Hoy Aids, lagi kitang banggit ha para lagi mo kaming naaalaala habang naglalaba ka!!! Noel (joysamdani@aol.com) is based in Las Vegas and his family operates and manages Forex forwarders in US and Canada.

I had a breakfast meeting with Batch '65 as arranged by Aids (again???) Ang galing mo, Congressman!!! Hayan, may title ng kasama ha! Dr. Ed San Luis, a sports medicine practicioner whose specialty is pain management and Ed Aniceto, a businessman who is into graphics design have signified intention into collaborating with some of our projects.

I tried calling some batchmates pero it's either ring lang or answering machine. To the rest of the guys: Ray Mag, Joey M., Edrei, Badong Salvador, Augusto San Jose, Mike Carluen and Lito de Jesus, next time na lang . I know a lot more batchmates are there specially up North. Sa mga East-coast based like Alvin, Romel, etc., coordinate ako next time around ng ma-plano ang pagpunta riyan.

'Til my next visit sometime March or April.

Pax!!!

George

Batchmates,

I would like to inform you the salient points that have been discussed during our meeting in Cerritos with Dr. Ed San Luis and Mr. Ed Aniceto, both distinguished members of Batch '65:

LSQC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION USA

This would be a joint effort among Lourdesians in the States to be worked closely with Batch '82 and '65. Our very own Aids Lecaros would file the necessary documents with SEC USA for the registration. The reunion at Getty museum became the catalyst and its inception was discussed during our meeting. We hope they could muster as many Lourdesians as possible which would be announced in The filipino Channel (TFC) and leading Pinoy newspapers for data basing. The association would exist through different chapters/affiliations depending on geographic location of Lourdesians. Mahirap lang sa simula but once it gets started, it would snowball into a refined organization.

TAEKWONDO UPDATE

Dr. Ed San Luis is a sports medicine doctor who is into pain management and he is more than willing to assist our senior taekwondo jin, JC Panopio when he competes next year for the US Open. Ed's son is also a silver medalist of the said tournament and they are readily available for some coaching tips.

(Note: I have informed Gerry Panopio regarding this and have endorsed him to Ed. Incidentally, our batchmate Noel Carino agreed in principle to assist Gerry and JC as soon as they arrive in Las Vegas. This is the kind of assistance our batch can extend without necessarily using any financial outlay as far as batch funds are concerned. We have the talents, resources, know-how and network so our batch should maximize on that)

TRADE ITEMS

I have shown our sports jersey and Ed Aniceto is ordering for them to distribute to their batchmates. Too bad I was not able to bring a sample of the Polgas T-shirt but I am sure they would like to secure as souvenir.

(Note: Paging our trade chairman. Please coordinate with Ed Aniceto and maybe we can make arrangements and supply them with our trade items specially if the LSQCAA USA has been organized. I can make arrangements with Noel of Forex for special rates and make this as our shipper as long as it is feasible. What do you think, Arnold D.?)

COMPUTER DONATION

We have cited the importance of education and technology as part of our battlecry for the scholarship program of the foundation. Batch '65 have signified intention to donate computer hardwares and other paraphernalia like computer projector for instructional purposes to our beloved school. Our batch would be their conduit for such donation.

We hope that more collaboration would be in the offing not only with Batch '65 but to the other batches as well specially if the LSQCAA USA would be active.

Pax!!!

George
