Mga Ka-Batch,

It was a fabulous 9-ball Billiards tournament held at Side Pocket Billiards last Dec. 8 with 24 players vying for the top prize — the handsome trophy donated by Erwin and the unwarpable white and blue cue stick and leather case won by Dr. Dindo Lucero of Batch 1978.

Mrs. Canave was our special guest and she was delighted with the event hosted by the best batch Lourdes ever produced!

The finals match had our very own Leo Flores dueling with Dindo. Leo may have bowed out to Dindo but I hear a rematch is in the offing come January 2002 if plans to have a "Battle of the Batches" pushes through.

George and Philip also squared off against each other (it was by draw and not by design) and even had the positions of President and Vice President at stake as a side bet!

I am sure all of you had fun playing against each other and drinking bottles of San Miguel and downing shots of Fabuloso Brandy. The pictures will be posted by George as evidence soon enough!

Special thanks goes out to Enrique Santos who donated Ten Thousand Pesos (P10,000) to the Foundation. Salamat Ricky at sana ay lagi kang mag-attend ng mga events ng batch!

I also would just like to thank all of you who gave your support and participated in this first fund raising event. Most especially the following:

Erwin Paz - tournament chair and donor of the first ever 9-ball billiard trophy;

Boom San Agustin - donor of the 50 free magazines (iba na talaga ang boss ng Emerald company) and the top raffle prizes of 2 year-long subscriptions to the international edition of FHM (worth P3,000 each);

Ruel Almario - for daonating the steering wheel locks raffled away!

To the donor of the Shangri-La gift certificates (sorry hindi ko alam kung sino eh) salamat din-please indentify yourself naman!

Raul Clemente - for the 80's audio cd's raffled away;

Sa mga nakalimutan ko - please remind me and sa lahat ng nagparticipate - salamat sa inyong lahat!

Famous Cartoonist Pol Medina Jr. arrived at 9:00pm and drew an original design (Polgas of Pugad Baboy fame proudly bearing the LSQC seal) for the benefit of our Foundation. Kumpare ko siya pinagbigyan niya ang request ko to use Polgas as our Mascot in our future Tshirt fundraiser. Salamat Pol!

Do I hear a christmas party in the works? How about December 29, 2001 the last Saturday of the year?

Batchmates,

On behalf of LSQC Batch '82, we would like to congratulate the organizers of the first-ever billiards tournament.

It was fun to be with your long lost friends and with the response from our batchmates, this is going to be a regular tournament and we are sure that it is going to be bigger and better.

To all those who have donated and sponsored for the prizes, we hope we can still count on you for our future events. To all the participants and friends who have supported our cause, from batch 1977 up to 1979, we hope to see you again.

The support given by Mrs. Canave encourages us to continue what we have started. Her outfit with the LSQC logo brings nostalgia to us.

We know this is just the beginning of many events and please continue supporting our batch. Thank you very much and more power to BATCH '82.

George
